Vintage Cannondale - Restoration
This bike was picked up at a used bike shop. The owner said it was not a Cannondale, I said, "it is". He said, "dude you are wrong." so, what ever.... This is a step by step of a restoration on a 1989 SM2000.
1.) First step, "get it down to the frame", The frame is made in in Nov 1988, and it has a 130mm rear spacing for a 7 speed. With random junk parts on it, a bent fork and a rear Deore derailer from (NB) '89. Which I belive is the only original part. After pulling off the bottom brackett to see if any of the original paint is found. Bare Alumunim.
2.) "Take off the old pain" To remove the old paint, I used a paint stripper. Spray it on, scrape off the old paint, and sand with a 220 Grade sand paper..... Ready for paint.
"I will be making a 1989 SM2000 in the black/white, why not. Same 3.0 frame."
